If the agents use the same skill over and over again, their expertise will improve, but their motivation may decrease (Hackman & Oldham 1980; see also Hackman & Morris 1975). This may affect the performance in a number of ways. First, an increase in expertise will lead to an increase in performance. Second, the decrease in motivation may lead to a decrease in performance.
